I just got done watching your third video and tried it out. Its the first time I ever painted like this so its not that great but I learned a lot. I really love all the tutorials you do. Thanks for making these! <3
finally I sat down with a cup of tea and xmas cake and managed to watch it and : a) I'm in love with the way you talk (I had a friend from Sweden and he talked the same way, so very nostalgic <3); b) that blender brush seems really nice, but do you use it with 'smudge' tool or just 'brush' tool? c) I haven't check on YT but is there a way to download these tut to keep them? 'cause they are extremely useful (as always your tuts are); d) seeing in light? never thought of that, I usually do the other way around ^^' not sure how it works thou.. e) everything in one layer makes it all so 'like a real painter' LOL I wanna try that XD
sorry about all the questions ^^ thanks for these tuts, they're such a big help *now goes off to do the homeworks lol*
I use it with smudge tool. That's why I named it "Blender (smudge)" in the tool preset
Hmm I don't know if I can make it possible to download the movies via YT. But there's lots of websites where you can paste youtube links and they generate a download link to it.
Seeing with light, or "values", is a well known method used by professional artists. The best way to learn to see with "light" is to start on a dark canvas but light enough for the sketch/base to be visible. And instead of first adding shadows, you then add the light on the areas it falls on - it will feel a little bit like sculpting in 2D sort of. This is an very effective way to learn the structure of the face for example, without using a lot of guidelines.
Yeah, painting on one layer is a lot like traditional painting. I mean, how many times do you actually add a "layer" when drawing/painting traditionally?

If you really think that people give a shit about your opinions, why don't you just go and blog about it instead?
Here is my homework by the way.
